Analysis Of A Rock Video 2
Cinematography:
Firstly, the video is 7 minutes long so immediately, they are going to have to do different type of shots within the video to stop viewer fatigue. This is a prime example of a vintage rock video. Dark with a mysterious theme to it. This video has established a story within the video which contributes to getting the viewer intrigued.Lighting was very important in this video. It gave the video a sense of unease as he is acting. There were some low shots at different angles. Also, long shots were involved a lot. Lip syncing isn't used much as the video isn't simplistic. Theres lots of short sharp shots.
Mise-En-Scene:
The location in this video corresponds to the narrative perfectly. I am not 100% sure but i am sure the video is related to the film, the hunch back of notre damn. Most scenes are set in places where its dark and doesn't show much light. This could contribute to how the main actor feels within the video.
Editing:
Within the video there are several editing techniques that occur. As this is like a short film they have to be accurate therefore eye line match and montage editing is very important .Within the narrative, the editing is important as if it is not accurate it could become tedious and not intriguing for the viewer. Eye line match was included several times from one cut to another to emphasise how the actors felt within the video.
Sound:
This is a typical rock song. A deep base intertwined with a dark gloomy video. It is a love story which is elaborated through the video itself. This could be foreseen as a stereotypical vintage rock song / video.
Performance:
Throughout the video, performance on a whole was good. The narrative was clear and you could see a small film being played through the lyrics and video which went hand in hand well. Both characters in the video also made the video seem realistic and it didn't come across as cheesy like some other videos within the category of showing a short movie through a music video.
